01 · verified destination

Use the current Character.AI web app

The verified destination is character.ai. The official short domain c.ai redirects to it, as do the old beta.character.ai and old.character.ai hosts. Those redirects do not restore the legacy login system. Character.AI now supports Continue with Google, Continue with Apple and an Email Verification Link. It does not use a native password.

The web application and official mobile apps share that account model. The Help Center at support.character.ai documents login changes and email troubleshooting; it is not a separate social account. Character creation, chat discovery and subscriptions sit behind the main identity rather than on separate tenant hosts. A domain with added words such as 'unfiltered,' 'premium,' 'login' or 'support' is not official merely because it resembles the brand.

People also describe this destination as 'character ai login,' 'character.ai sign in,' 'c.ai login,' 'character ai email verification link,' 'character ai login with google,' 'character ai login with apple,' 'character ai verification email not received' or 'character ai password reset.' Those phrases are search clues, not domains; the last phrase refers to a retired workflow that the current service does not offer.

02 · safe sign-in sequence

Enter Character.AI without a password in six steps

Use the same provider originally linked to the account. A password prompt or retired social button is a reason to stop.

  1. 01

Open https://character.ai/ directly or follow the official c.ai redirect. Confirm the address bar ends at character.ai before starting authentication; do not sign in through a Character's chat link.

  2. 02

Choose Continue with Google, Continue with Apple or the email option that matches the account's existing method. Discord, Facebook and legacy email/password are no longer supported login choices.

  3. 03

For Google or Apple, confirm the browser reaches that provider's expected authentication domain. Approve only the Character.AI connection you intended, and use the provider account already linked to the profile.

  4. 04

For email, enter the exact address registered to Character.AI and request the Email Verification Link. Do not create a password, and never forward the link to someone offering account help.

  5. 05

Open the verification message from the expected mailbox and follow its link promptly. If it is missing, check spam/junk, blocked senders, available inbox space and whether the mail domain can receive it.

  6. 06

After the app opens, verify the expected profile before chatting or changing account settings. Sign out on a shared device and secure the underlying Google, Apple or email account because it controls future authentication.

03 · documented security path

Authentication security belongs to the chosen provider

Settings path unknown — no public first-party 2FA settings path verified; inspect the signed-in account or organization policy

Current methods: unknown. No official step-by-step source strong enough for a method claim was verified through 2026-09-06. That is an evidence boundary, not a claim that Character.AI lacks two-factor authentication.

Character.AI publishes no native 2FA settings path. Its current article describes Google, Apple and email-link authentication as passwordless approaches that avoid a separate multi-factor verification step. The guide should not turn the email magic link into a claim that Character.AI offers configurable two-factor authentication.

Protect the Google Account, Apple Account or email mailbox used for login with the provider's own security features. If that provider displays a second-factor challenge, complete it only on the provider's verified domain. Character.AI controls account linkage and verification-link issuance, while the external provider controls the credential and recovery mechanics.

04 · what to look for

Use the three current authentication controls

  • 01Continue with Google
  • 02Continue with Apple
  • 03Email Verification Link

Continue with Google begins Google's federated authentication. Continue with Apple begins Apple's path and can involve Apple's email-relay behavior. Email Verification Link is the passwordless mailbox route. Inside the creation workflow, +Create and Character open a new Character setup, but those controls never authorize a user to disclose account credentials to the generated Character.

05 · service-specific lures

Reject legacy password prompts and in-chat verification links

Pattern 1

A 'Character.AI password reset' or legacy Discord/Facebook login page asks for a password or social credentials.

Pattern 2

A Character in a chat claims that an external link is official account verification, evidence or support and asks the user to sign in or disclose a verification link.

The first lure imitates a Character.AI password reset or offers an old Discord/Facebook sign-in. Current first-party documentation says Character.AI has no password and that legacy email/password, Discord and Facebook methods have been unsupported since July 30, 2024. Return to character.ai and use one of the three current choices.

The second lure appears inside a conversation: a Character claims an external page is official verification, support or proof and asks the user to sign in or share a magic link. Character.AI warns that Characters make things up and can provide links to fake evidence. Treat generated chat as content, not account instructions, and navigate independently to the main site or Help Center. These are source-grounded red flags; no named phishing campaign is asserted.

06 · locked-account plan

Recover the provider account or request another email link

There is no Character.AI password to reset. Retry the same Google or Apple account originally linked, or enter the exact registered email to request a new verification link. For a missing message, check spam and junk folders, blocked contacts, mailbox capacity and domain support, then submit a request through support.character.ai.

Loss of the registered mailbox is a hard boundary. Character.AI says users cannot change, update or remove the email address on an existing account. If access cannot be recovered through Google, Apple or the email provider, the user must create a new Character.AI account, and existing chats or data cannot be transferred. A third party promising to bypass that rule should not receive a verification link.

07 · passkey status

Native Character.AI passkeys are unconfirmed

This guide does not claim current passkey support for Character.AI. A security key, device approval, or biometric prompt is not automatically a passkey, and an old product announcement is not enough to establish current availability.

The current official login documentation names Google, Apple and Email Verification Link, not a Character.AI passkey setting. Keep native passkey status unknown. Google or Apple may authenticate the provider account with a passkey, but the user enrolls and recovers it with that provider.

Character.AI login questions

Which login methods work now?

Character.AI supports Continue with Google, Continue with Apple and an Email Verification Link. Use the method already linked to the account.

Can I reset my Character.AI password?

No. The current service does not use native passwords, so any password-reset prompt is inconsistent with the official workflow.

Do Discord or Facebook login still work?

No. Character.AI says those legacy methods, along with email/password, have been unsupported since July 30, 2024.

Why did the verification email not arrive?

Confirm the exact address, then check spam/junk, blocked senders, inbox capacity and mail-domain support. Use the official support form if another link still does not arrive.

Can I change the email on my account?

No. Character.AI says the address cannot be changed, updated or removed, and a replacement account cannot receive the old account's chats or data.

Does Character.AI offer native 2FA or passkeys?

The reviewed official pages provide no native settings path. Secure the Google, Apple or email account that performs authentication instead.

10 · continue safely

ChatGPT is the closest AI-account comparison. Discord, Reddit, X, Tumblr, and Bluesky each use different identity, recovery, and impersonation controls, so do not reuse a Character.AI route for them.
